Mom was always full of energy could never stay still, although she would never travel she did go a couple of places. The furthest she has been is Indianna - my little brother was playing baseball and it was the first time he had played so far away without her there, so we decided to drive to Indianna and surprise him- 18 hours later and quite surprised! She had also been to New York City when she was a young girl and got lost which is why she didn' t like to leave the city. She had traveled a couple of times to New Hampshire and her best travel had to be to Connecticut. Foxwoods Resort Casino, that was her passion, she had the luck of the portuguese - she would throw a coin in and hit 1,000.00 always lucky, even with scratch tickets. I guess you could say that was her hobby, until she got her computer, she loved her computer she started to learn everything emails, photoshows, she even purchased a digital camera and finally started taking pictures of everyone and everything. Fall River was her life, she had to live on a busy street ( the only street in Fall River with fake flowers in the yard) hehehhe mom would put artificial flowers in her yard, but would not take them in during the winter and would be the only person with tulips popping through the snow, she had to always have her police scanner going didnt want to miss the action!! The best job she did was raise (very well I might add) 6 wonderful children who were all her best friends. We are all thankful to her and our stepdad who took over taking care of us. I was the oldest and out of the home, however he was still there for me. In 1984 my baby brother was born, he is the only one born to my Mom and Stepdad. He is only 21 but he has many great memories of mom too. He got away with alot being the baby :). I was the first born - in 1965 then the rest followed right down to 1984. In 1982 her first grandaughter was born and 7 more grandchildren to follow. My mom and stepdad was married on August 15, 1992. On May 10, 2005 the 4th generation was born, her 1st great grandson (her little dj porker) he was the apple in her eyes, as was all the children. Tyler the youngest grandson would give her a run for the money, always worried about him wrecking her big screen TV - he had as much energy as she did in her earlier days, but would tire her out. In 2003 she had a collapsed lung, and she was a heavy cigarette smoker, she tried numerous times to quit and lasted a little while but smoking is what she wanted to do she enjoyed it. Well it took over - it took her life at 7:42 am on the 30th day of August 2005. This is a summary of my moms short life.
If anyone is reading this and has a smoking addiction or any kind of addiction for that matter, please go for the proper help and prevent your family member from creating a memorial of their loved ones. |
